When you are replaying the day
Before bed, sort the day into 3 simple answers.
Separate what happened from what you felt, then decide what you can leave until tomorrow.
Try the exerciseA short pause. One manageable next step.
Replaying a moment can mix the event with guesses about what happens next. Writing the pieces separately helps you see which part you are responding to.
Try it now
Use one or two sentences for each answer.
What happened?
Describe the event as plainly as you can. Leave out predictions about what it means for tomorrow.
What did you feel?
Name the emotions in your own words. You can feel differently about different parts of the same moment.
What can wait until tomorrow?
Choose what you will revisit later. Finish with: “What I need to put down tonight is…”
Keep the note short. You can return to the details when you have more time and attention.
